Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At my school, we strive to provide the highest quality instruction for each child while developing the whole child. Students learn the value of risk-taking and develop the skills and confidence they need for real-world situations. Our students come from various economic backgrounds.
My students are vibrant, inquisitive and full of energy!
They are learners, friends, teachers, advocates, leaders and so much more but, most importantly, they are our future! As a teacher, it is my responsibility to provide them with the tools they need in order to be successful in my classroom and beyond!
My Project
The Outdoor School at Camp Champions will give my students a unique opportunity to learn in a natural environment without the restrictions of a classroom! It will give them a chance to experience woods, fields, and lakes to develop a lifelong love for the outdoors. They will see, touch and hear the natural world where they will learn about their environment and how to care for it responsibly. It will reinforce classroom learning by allowing students to engage their senses and to learn by doing.
Students who have attended the camp in the past have returned with a universal respect for all living things, a leap in self-confidence, experiential knowledge of science, and better interpersonal skills.
