Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am traveling from one school to another this school year. I will serve both schools. I have 21 students in my afternoon classroom for the 2018-2019 school year with a wide range of abilities, needs, and concerns. My students are in a low income/high poverty school in which more than 75% of the students receive free or reduced-price meals. I am in the process of setting up my new classroom and in need of some items. I want to make my new classroom as equipped and exciting to be in as the morning school classroom.
Despite some of the challenges they face in and around their environment, every year my students come to school excited, full of life, and eager to learn.
When children have a strong foundation of learning, they are able to stay on track to remain in school, graduate, and pursue post-secondary education and training to successfully transition into adulthood.
Children make this room their home for however long they stay and miss it dearly when they move on. No matter who enters through my classroom doors, they become part of our school family.
My Project
Having all the necessary supplies ensures students adapt to their routines and help with their daily routines and their learning.
My students need Learning Charts will be used during whole group on days the Promethean board is not used.
We days of the week, months of the week, shapes/colors, numbers, birthdays, and transportation charts posted on our classroom walls. These help students reference back to previous learning and personalize their classroom.
The pocket chart will be used for our conduct chart. It is important that students have a visual to reference back to, so they can reflect on their behavior.
