My Students

I am a first grade teacher in a wonderful school in Wisconsin. My students are very special, and I just love going to school every day to see the sparkle in their little 5 to 8-year-old eyes. I also get to connect with students of various ages during and after school. I truly have the most special job in the world and treasure every day with my students! We participate in so many fun activities throughout the year, and our hope is to add even more.

My Project

I am so excited about requesting these nonfiction, Environmental Science books for my first-grade students! Reading Recovery books are amazing, and I am having fantastic results with them! I am a first-grade teacher and a licensed reading specialist, and I love my job. Every year, I get a new class of students. This year, like most, I have a mix of students reading at all different levels My students absolutely devour books about science! I have the expertise to keep moving these students ahead and to build them into strong, solid, confident readers, but I need leveled books about science topics! Research shows that the most effective way to help students learn to read is through practice at a student's level of understanding. And, the best way to turn them into lovers of science is to expose them to nature, animals, and the environment.

Students love to read when the books chosen are about topics they love like blizzards, snow, slugs, eels, and other topics.

I am requesting these level G, science books, because my students will love them. These books will be used many times over, and will be one of my most important tools for getting my students to be well-prepared for 2nd grade! I want all of my readers to fall in love with reading science books! Having these Level G books, will really help me to make reading fun for a large group of my students! These Reading Recovery books are fantastic because they are loaded with wonderful photographs and interesting topics that students love to read about, and I have already had AMAZING success with the other sets that I received from donors on I am super excited to have this set in my little students' hands. Thank you for your help.
