Help me give my students an education in entrepreneurship. I would like my students to produce and merchandise their own products. I want them to develop a business plan and implement it.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I have been teaching entrepreneurship for 10 years. I want my kids to write a business plan. I want them to merchandise their products and I want them to establish a quality brand that they can be proud of. Ownership is the key to a successful future. I want them to be less fearful of numbers and embrace the story that they tell them. I am passionate about entrepreneurship because my kids need to see the passion to feel the passion. Your help in acquiring the foundational materials...ie embroidery machine etc. is a vital part of getting started. The curriculum begins with understanding business structure and foundations. We go from structure to establishing a single unit of sale. We identify our customers and competition and then develop the framework of our business plan. I use a business plan template developed by NFTE so they can get a feel of what ownership really means. We will use the embroidery machine to make their designs come to life. After we have developed our business plan and created our products, we begin to analyze tax structure and accounting for capital and depreciation. The students will have ownership of their ideas and tangible knowledge of the structure and function of their business. They can translate these skills to real-world ventures and/or continue the vitality of their own existing brands.
