My Students

My students are an eager and positive group of learners that come from a wide range of backgrounds with a wide range of abilities. We like to work hard, laugh, and stretch our minds, and I'm always looking for new ways to push their thinking.

The diversity in their strengths and interests makes for a rewarding school day and really keeps me on my toes.

Their energy and enthusiasm motivate me to make this their most rewarding and successful school year yet.

My Project

Now that we are about halfway through the school year, most of my students have become avid readers. I'm so excited by their interest in reading. But...their independent reading is almost entirely fiction. Looking around my classroom, I realize that I have an imbalance between fiction and nonfiction offerings. This project aims to address this discrepancy.

These 38 titles have been selected with my students' unique interests in mind and cover a wide range of styles and formats.

From odd animals to hidden wonders and deadly fashion to historical trailblazers, there is something here for everyone.

By providing my students with new, engaging, and relevant nonfiction, their reading skills will continue to grow and expand, as will their relationship with the world around them.
