This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Ninety-five percent of our student population qualifies for free lunch. A lot of our students have been classified by others as being troubled, but they have grown to love our theater department.
They are diamonds in the rough and are always looking for ways to entertainment an audience.
Their grit has challenged me to be more creative in how I present opportunities. It has been great watching them blossom from improvisation to wanting to create their own works. My students are amazing.
My Project
The love of musical theater at our school has grown exponentially. We have a large number of students who want to perform and work backstage for this production. All of the clothing items for this project will be used for the Poppies, Winkies, Munchkins, Khalidahs, flying monkeys, and others. The other accessories such as the hats and wigs will be used to enhance our looks.
We have a chance to make a mark in my students' lives that will last a lifetime.
Atlanta is now the largest film market in the world, and I feel that we can enjoy more students to get into the entertainment field by exposing them early as possible.
