My Students

My students are amazing! We are a bilingual class who dominates English and Spanish with ease! My students come from all over the city of Chicago. I work in a very diverse school where our students come with all different backgrounds and experiences and we as teachers try to embrace them!

Getting necessary materials can be a challenge, especially in their native language.

Our school has an 87% low income population and our parents work hard to provide for their students. As teachers it is a struggle to provide for students when resources are limited, but we do our best to provide extracurricular activities as well as the necessities needed to have the day run smoothly.

My Project

Finding resources can be difficult for anyone, this is especially true when you are finding them in another language. Currently our school uses a preset curriculum. My goal is to provide my students engaging books that they can fall in love with.

Having the book Charlie y la fabric de chocolate (Charlie And The Chocolate Factory) will will build my students' Spanish vocabulary, pronunciation, and comprehension skills.

They will be able to participate in reading groups and discussions using classic literature. My goal is to have students build a love for reading. Not only in English, but in Spanish as well!
