Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Kindergarten at a Title I school with 75% of students of color. I have wonderfully supportive parents and amazing students but donating to classroom essentials is difficult for these families. The students at my school are hardworking and have the drive to learn regardless of their financial situation.

I believe that with the right resources and excellent teaching any student can excel in any circumstance.

The school I teach at strongly believes that the education of children is a partnership between the home and the school and that parent involvement is crucial to the success of our students.

We are a large school district and funding only goes so far. Students are provided with many resources and technology but classroom teachers are offered very little from the budget and most of the purchases in my classroom come out of my pocket. For this reason, I would love any help you can provide in my classroom in order to enhance student learning.

My Project

As I first-year teacher I am still building my classroom library, hands-on tools, and manipulatives to help enrich student exploration and learning. I want students of all learning levels to be able to explore and learn in my classroom. I believe that children need to learn through play.

As I build my classroom library and hands-on tools, it is my hope that these resources will help my students grow their imagination as well as their understanding of the world.

I have selected books that students of races and ethnicities can connect with. I want each child in my classroom to feel a strong connection to the characters we read about in stories.
