I want to enliven mathematics using technology. I teach Algebra Two and Pre-calculus at a public high school in a poor school district in California.

Technology such as animation can help to engage students in learning math. Yet, my students have little access to technology because they and the school district cannot afford it. We currently cannot take advantage of the many educational software available for lack of an LCD projector. For example, a simulation of the popular graphing calculator exists. It is a great resource in teaching students how to use the graphing calculator, which in turn is great in getting a hands-on experience in learning math.

An LCD projector is essential for presentations that have been prepared on a PC. The LCD projector will be connected to a PC in the classroom so that students can see animation of math, graphs and results of calculations. This will make math more accessible and learning math more fun.

You can help students learning math in a disadvantaged neighborhood to catch up with their peers in the rest of the country. Our students are behind in math and science among the many industrial nations. Your help will allow our students to catch up in math with their peers in many parts of the world.
