As Albert Einstein said, The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking. In order to assist my students in thinking on a broader scale, we need the hands-on, interactive experience that the wireless tablet will provide.
I teach 6th grade E/LA at an International Baccalaureate school in North Carolina.
My students come from a variety of intellectual and socio-economic backgrounds, in addition to encompassing an array of learning levels. Our school serves not only advanced students, but also individuals with learning disabilities and other developmental disorders. One thing my students do have in common is the strong desire to be successful in their academic and future careers.
My Project
The wireless tablet will allow the students and teacher to interact with the digital content on the computer. The tablet enables the teacher to have mobility as the lesson is being taught. Using the stylus, both the teacher and students can collaborate freely, while taking notes, working on various websites, drawing diagrams, etc. and will still be able to see what is displayed on the tablet by using our classroom smart board. If this item is donated, students can work cooperatively on multiple unit projects. Students will also be able to guide the lessons and show their ideas directly. Due to the rigorous expectations of the IB Program, the majority of each unit is taught through interactive lessons. This has been hard for my classes, because of the lack of technological resources. Using the wireless tablet in combination with our smart board will provide my students with the opportunity to excel and exceed our goals.
Having the wireless tablet will allow my students to accomplish the rigorous goals that they are hoping to meet.
Due to our lack of technological resources, we have been unable to meet all of the required objectives. By having the item requested, students would be able to stay engaged, while gaining a great deal of integrative, 21st century knowledge. In addition, they would also be able to meet the expectations set forth by the Common Core Standards.
