it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My kindergarten scholars are ecstatic as they begin to learn how to read!!!
They LOVE traveling to the many places we learn about in our weekly stories. Despite the many differences and challenges each scholar faces, they are all able to "lose" themselves in a good book. Our charter school is only in its 2nd year of operation and is still accumulating the necessities needed for ALL of our scholars to achieve excellence. We encourage our students to set high goals and help them reach a level of mastery. While reading has become a part of our scholar's nightly (home) routine, we lack the resources to promote reading in class.
My Project
Kindergarten is such an important year for children. For many of them, they are learning how to read their first words and sentences. They are also developing a larger sense of comprehension. My scholars are among the many children developing a love for learning. They enjoy reading and listening to stories that promote their imagination and take them on journeys all over the world. Unfortunately, our classroom does not have an adequate amount of books, neither fiction or nonfiction, for all of the students to enjoy. There are only a handful of books in the library to select from, which means my students read/hear the same books over and over. In return, decreasing their interest and passion for reading at school.
These books will ensure that all my scholars have the necessary age appropriate materials they need to become successful readers. They will also encourage my scholars to be imaginative and drive their curiosity.
With your help, my scholars will be able to improve their reading levels and comprehension skills.
They will be able to take their own trips to the vast-array of locations detailed in stories. Most importantly, you will help their love for learning grow!!
