Enhancing our literacy skills through the use of our listening post

I am a second grade teacher at a K-5 school. We currently have a limited listening post library and would like to expand it, but that can be costly. In order for the listening post to be effective, we need multiple copies of each book title along with a cassette of the story.
The listening post serves as a learning center in our classroom. The children work cooperatively, listening to the story and then completing a task to go along with the book. The task can be open-ended (i.e., a summary) or specific and focused on grammatical skills. I have found that the children love to listen to the stories and benefit on many levels from participating in this activity. It also encourages language and vocabulary development as well as listening skills.
All children in my class rotate through 2 to 3 listening post centers each month for the majority of the school year. This requires a much larger library than what we currently have. What we are most in need of is the financing to make this work. I need multiple copies of each book and the story on tape.
The children look forward to this center and often times I find them checking out the same title (or another by the same author) at the school library later in the school year!
