My students need the Grade One Classic Grade Leveled Library, whiteboards and headphones to use during our Daily 5 reading instruction.

My students come to school ready to learn every day! The students in my classroom come from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. They all bring unique talents and perspectives to my classroom, along with unique struggles. But the one thing they all have in common is a drive to learn new things and to experience the world around them in exciting ways. In order to meet my students varied needs, I incorporate many different types of learning strategies and resources into our classroom. Together my students and I are learning in unique and interesting ways!
Students in my classroom participate in Daily 5 reading instruction each day. During this time students are able to work on their independent reading and writing levels. They read to themselves using authentic literature, they practice sight words and spelling patterns using whiteboards and games, they use headphones to listen to stories using our iPads and a reading app. They love this time and it enhances their learning in so many positive ways.
Daily 5 is one of my student's favorite times of day, but in order to do this we need materials to support our learning.
Our classroom library is in need of new and exciting authentic literature. We need leveled books that will inspire students during our "Read to Self" time. This is why the leveled classroom library will be a valuable resource for us. We need more whiteboards so more students in our classroom our able to practice their sight words and spelling patterns during out "Word Work" time. They will use these white boards for various word games and activities. Finally, we need the headphones so that more of our students are able to listen to stories using a reading app on our iPads in the classroom. Listening to stories helps to build their fluency and builds listening comprehension skills. All of these resources combined will greatly improve our Daily 5 time and will give more students the opportunity to participate in each Daily 5 activity.
