This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much," is a quote from Helen Keller.

My preschool students are amazing, energetic, fun, and lovely children who have the drive to learn.

They are like sponges absorbing all the information they can receive from me or anyone who presents to them. Many of my children are Spanish-speaking with English as a second language, and many of the parents are only Spanish-speaking.

The students truly enjoy learning with their friends. They are excited to be surrounded by a safe, healthy, comfortable, and educational learning environment. I am looking forward to embracing an amazing year with our young learners who are full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them every day. I feel honored to have the responsibility to teach these amazing preschoolers and hope to enrich their educational experience.

My Project

Upon returning to school for the new year our young learners will begin a study about clothing. We will be learning all about various types of clothing, clothing from different cultures, what we wear for the weather, how we take care of our clothes, and how clothes are made. The dolls from around the world will enable my students to see the unique and diverse cultures that exist in our world which will build a deeper appreciation, awareness, and understanding of all people. As we continue to build foundational social-emotional self-awareness skills students will expand their knowledge of clothing from around the world.

Throughout our study of clothes, we will learn concepts and skills in literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts, and technology.

The sewing sets, velcro, magnetic dress-up sets, and yarn will enable students to use higher-level thinking skills as they develop literacy/vocabulary, investigate, solve problems, make predictions, test their ideas, design, create, and collaborate.

Ultimately, this project will enhance our young learners' clothing study experience. I hope that my students see the unique and diverse cultures that exist in our world which will build a deeper appreciation, awareness and understanding of all people.
