Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students at our school are self-driven and motivated to learn; however, students need a fun, and more creative way of learning in order to develop critical thinking and team-building skills. We are located where majority are single parent homes and many are blue collar families that sustain their families from paycheck to paycheck. For many of my students, access to technology outside school is very limited. Our school, a campus within EPISD; is slowly losing its funding due to low enrollment rates causing school budgets to decrease significantly.
The economically-disadvantaged population at our campus is 95% .
My students are eager to succeed, staying in extra hours to better themselves. They are also fearless when it comes to technology and as students of the 21st century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of tools to engage their learning.
Therefore, my students need a better way of staying engaged in their classroom studies and lessons. I am requesting an interactive white board projector. With such innovative technology and inspired creativity my students will become active learners and experience vibrant learning experiences and collaboration in a modern learning environment.
My Project
I want to create a learning environment that not only requires my students to write and solve problems from a textbook but also contribute to enhance their learning by using a mounted projector in my classroom. Within my classroom we use a projector for all daily instruction to include educational videos, interactive learning and guided worksheets. The projector will be a valuable asset when teaching math facts, algebra, geometry and other general mathematical skills.
With a interactive whiteboard I can transform the one-computer classroom into a workable instructional model.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve student attention an focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. With a interactive whiteboard not only will my students absorb information more easily, but also free my students from note-taking and allow them to participate in group discussions instead.
