Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

We have the opportunity at our school to have amazing third graders which is a total blessing for our school. My students come from a Title I school where over 80% of the students are receiving free or reduced-priced lunch, and many of them English is not their first language, Spanish is. Many of them have experienced having difficulty coming to school as a result of transportation or trauma experiences going on in their lives. However, many of them have the motivation to want to learn, but just like in the classroom, lack resources of getting additional educational experiences in and out of the classroom.

Our students reflect who we are as human beings and continuously inspire to be.

They are motivated, encouraged, and amazing human beings. They are well-mannered with all staff around the school and their positive actions, interactions, and collaborations amongst their peers, and it is continuously outstanding to watch which is the reason we enjoy what we do. Our students want to be the best and are always ready to set goals and expectation high and achieve them.

My Project

These materials will allow my students to be more organized in how they flow, move, and transition around the room during independent and group tasks. The bins allow for our work in mentor sentences, vocab, spelling, and grammar. They will see the room in a new light and have that experience that our classroom is another home where they can be themselves, build independence, bond with their peers, and continue their learning journey.

We are also continuing to grow our library and these materials will ensure that my students get to enjoy and explore JK Rowling's Harry Potter books.

We have 1 in the classroom and the students have asked when will we be getting more. This would be the perfect opportunity to grab their attention and keep them engaged with this series.
