Help me give my students magna tiles, light table, career figures, and a variety of play sets for the opportunity to problem solve while using self-expression, imagination, creativity, and mathematics with new blocks for our block center.
The students in my class attend a public school in an urban setting that utilizes the Creative Curriculum. My students are bright, energetic, and loving. They come into school every day with a smile on their face and are eager to learn and excited to be at school.
Despite developmental delays, the children accept each new challenge and persevere with positive approaches to learning.
Their curiosity and creativity is seen each day not only in the writing area, but as they build with blocks and dramatize familiar roles in the kitchen area. Their enthusiasm and love for learning something new motivate me each day.
My Project
We are requesting magna tiles, light table, career figures, and a variety of play sets for the opportunity to problem solve while using self-expression, imagination, creativity, and mathematics with new blocks for our block center. The use of block is an everyday occurrence in my classroom.
Our block area is one of the most popular areas that is chosen for play everyday!
Not only does the block area enhance and continue to help their fine motor skills but it also increases their imagination when they are engaging in pretend play. This type of play allows them to think outside the box and apply many other skills that they have already touched upon.
Block play stimulates learning in all domains of development, intellectual, physical, and social-emotional and language.
Many of my students learn through interacting with hands on activities, and with these varieties of blocks, I know it will increase their prior knowledge thinking as well as boost their self esteem in knowing they can build the impossible!
