My students need hands-on stem activities, such as Kid K'nex, and ways to relax themselves, such as Tangle.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our PreK and Kindergarten school is located in a diverse town in NJ and serves about 400 students. There are 16 classes of both Pre K and Kindergarten. The student population is very diverse and the abilities of the students vary greatly.
My students are young and eager to learn about many different topics through varying activities.
They love hearing stories and learning through non-fiction books. I would like for them to continue their learning and explore their curiosities through hands-on activities.
My Project
Currently the school has a space which is called a media center, but it needs to be transformed and organized to make it a functioning library media center and more hands-on learning materials need to be added. I am looking to create a media center where the students can come and learn through books, technology and other hands-on experiences. My vision is for the media center to be a learning commons with many various opportunities for learning which will meet the needs of the schools diverse student population.
Creating hands-on learning activities around literacy will help to make the students learning more meaningful.
Such materials as Kid K'nex, Kanoodle, puzzle sets and fidgets will help to enrich the students in various ways. Providing hands-on learning activities will allow the students to explore their ideas and express their own creativity.
