My Students
I teach in a 3-year-old Head Start classroom in Kalamazoo, Michigan. My students come from low-income, high-risk homes. We are a diverse group of learners coming from many cultural backgrounds. My classroom is many of my students' first school experience and we do our best to make it a positive and fun learning environment. We also work with the families to help support them. These boys and girls are eager to learn and love to learn through play.
My Project
Our students learn through play. Dramatic play is one of the best ways for them to practice social skills. New dress up clothes will give them the opportunity to use their imaginations. The pretend cleaning supplies will allow my students to pretend as well as practice life skills. The pretend food will allow the boys and girls to role play. They enjoy pretending to cook for one another. I am asking for the Little People Zoo because not only is it great for engaging students in vocabulary skills but it also has animals from A to Z to help with alphabet recognition. The Little People house will help my students to use their vocabulary skills as well as social skills with their classmates.
