Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every student can learn and deserves an equal opportunity to achieve a healthy and productive life. In my classroom, I instill the urgency to learn, think, wonder, and achieve. My students come from challenging backgrounds and I do everything I can to make learning achievable for each student.
My students come from poverty and challenging circumstance.
At my school, we do not accept their historically disadvantaged reality, we push to improve every student in academics, behavior, and intrinsic motivation. We believe each of our students can and should go to college, have a career and break out of the cycle of poverty!
My Project
A projector, although just one purchase, can and will greatly change the environment of my classroom and the learning of my students. My school does not have computers for staff or students, or projectors, or any other classroom technology. I am happy to bring my own laptop to school to use with the projector. I do not believe in leaning on technology in the classroom but rather in using it as a tool. I make learning fun through reading aloud, projects, diagrams, drawings and notes on the board- but a projector would really help in the integration of pictures and other visuals, project learning, assessments, student's projects and speeches, and more! I greatly appreciate any and all help. Thank you for your consideration!
Students need to visualize their learning.
When reading a complex text, seeing the text circled and manipulated will greatly increase reading comprehension and ability. A projector would help us integrate visual representations and to visualize our text. This projector will help enable me to teach my students how to break down texts, draw conclusions, and to create written works such as essays, poetry, informational texts, and autobiographies.
