My Students
My students are English Language Learners at all levels from from many different countries. Most students speak Spanish as their home language, but not all. They live in the lowest socioeconomic area of the county in West Virginia, attending a Title I school with free and reduced lunches. Even if we don't all speak the same language all the time, we can draw to communicate and tell our stories.
My students are proud of their cultures and we are always sharing stories through words and pictures.
My Project
My students will use the products chosen to enhance their stories and writing with drawings nearly everyday. Some will use the instruments to communicate with me in the beginning of the year. It's important to them to have the correct bright colors for their flags and their skin tones. I allow students to choose their instrument with which to draw, but with the virus and the restrictions on sharing I do not have enough skin tone colored pencils or crayons for students to have their own. This Donor Choose will allow each to have their own or give me the option to wipe down between classes.
My students will be so excited!
(I'm so happy to see Crayola brought these products back!)
