Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a student-centered classroom that is excited to take large leaps this school year! A typical day in my classroom revolves around hands-on activities and exploration for students to engage and grow independently!
100% of my third grade students are ESL and come from a Title I community (82% of our students are free or reduced-price lunch.)
Our students are very motivated and hard working, which makes coming to work every day an exciting adventure. As a very ethnically diverse school in New York City, our students have a variety of cultural and economic backgrounds. Our students have a thirst for learning, and I aim to provide each child with the tools they need to be successful!
My Project
My students need these organizational materials to allow them to become highly involved in all subjects daily. Crayons, pencils, sticky notes and laminating sheets to transform resources into dry erase are a necessity for teachers to create engaging lessons for students to enjoy. My students will benefit greatly by incorporating hands-on materials with white boards and crafts for science, social studies, math and literacy.
I would like rich and rigorous materials that will assist my classroom of 100% English Language Learners.
Math, reading and writing stations are a part of our schedule daily, where students are able to use manipulatives to assist them reach their highest potential! Students will be able to use counters, dice, coins, flashcards and Judy Clocks to participate in engaging activities. As 100% of my class are English Language Learners, intervention kits to support English Language reading and writing development are essential. During writing and reading conferences, students will work with English Language Development kits for comprehension, vocabulary and writing.
