Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hardworking individuals who are curious about the world and excited about the future. They are language learners from diverse backgrounds. My students want to learn about the world and other people's point of view.
I teach a group of English language learners who are striving to develop skills that will help them reach their life goals.
To do this, they need opportunities to practice English in exciting ways that allow them to discover new ideas and multiple perspectives.
My Project
The students in my class often play games and engage in activities to learn English for the first time. These activities make English fun and spark the learning process.
These items are essential tools for their learning.
Many of the activities require students to use white boards, colors, and post materials.
Common language activities are White Board Wars where teams of students use white boards to answer Jeopardy style questions. They also work with language board games which require them to navigate conversations. They use colors to indicate different moves in the language. We spark conversation with "Four Corners", where we post work with blue tape to answer questions. These materials are essential to the daily learning in class.
