This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work with a wonderful group of students who are between the ages of 5-9 who happen to have autism and/or multiple disabilities. All of our students receive free school breakfasts and lunches due to coming from low income families. My students enjoy coming to school and feel that school is the happiest time of their days. My students are enthusiastic learners who are very thankful for any items they receive. Forty percent of our students are homeless. We really could use the extra supplies at our school. We really appreciate your support.
My Project
My students are asking for english language arts based learning activities. The CVC (consonant vowel consonant) matching cards will help my students begin reading basic words like cat, dog, pet. The images and broken down letters on the cards will make it easier and more relevant to the students.
Students with autism at times experience developmental delays.
Some of my students are still learning their letters, the water alphabet will give them a new way to learn letters and be hands on while learning. The matching box set works on basic skills for my lower students. Matching and sorting are skills that the students will always need.
The 3 items we are asking for hit all my students learning ranges. Our classroom is so diverse, these items will benefit all the students, from low to high.
