My Students

I teach a class of 16 super awesome 5 year olds. These students are the sweetest group of kindergarteners ever. I love how they are so eager to learn using hands-on STEAM toys. Every morning, their smiles light up my room and fill my heart with joy. They learn best through play and socialization. Many of these students need a little extra time and guidance to help start their days peacefully and without added stress. These energetic kinders will be able to ease into their day through play! I look forward to seeing their daily creations. These kinders are the BEST!

My Project

I am looking for tools to help my kinders build and explore as engineers. These toys will allow them to build creations from imagination, or they can use them to copy the given examples. It’s a time for them to explore through building and playing. STEAM toys are part of my morning routine; each table, together, plays with a boxful of engineering/STEAM based manipulatives that build their fine motor skills, science knowledge, and socialization skills. By having the boxes of STEAM toys at each table, the kinders are interacting with each other: building on the friendships (social skills), as well as, their academic skills. They have to talk about what they are building and learn how to share the materials.
