This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
From the beginning of the school year until the end, my students understand that they are loved and can do anything they set their minds to. Living in high poverty areas, and not being able to access resources to help them succeed, they still strive to make their parents and teacher proud of them.
My students are energetic, charismatic, and positive individuals who are willing to work hard to reach their goal.
Although I am not able to dictate their home life, I can simplify their learning. My students enter our classroom every day filled with excitement and ready to learn. I have very candid conversations with them to prepare them for the real world. By exposing them to different forms of learning, I am teaching them that there is more than one way to reach their goal.
My Project
My students will be using the 3D printer to create small scaled architectural models of small shapes. Since this is a new skill for my students, this will provide them with hands-on experience in working with a 3D printer. Students will be using the two robot kits to enhance their knowledge of coding and building robots. Students can practice using design technology and experience careers related to it: architecture, graphic design, modeling, and coding.
This project would significantly help my students' understanding of the STEM design cycle.
In the end, my students will become problem-solvers, empowered to take the skills and knowledge they learn in class to improve their knowledge of STEM.
