As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
In my class I have students from countries all over the world.
Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. My students deserve to have available materials and amazing experiences. I want my students to want to come to school each day and keep them excited to learn, they deserve the best.
My Project
Science is a time of the day all of my students look forward to. Finding books that go with our science units is very hard. The STEM book set would allow our classroom to have great science read-aloud stories that get students excited and help them to learn at the same time.
Engineering is a hands-on unit and by having Magna-tiles to build and engineer with and the earthquake simulator to build and test structures my students will get to build and experiment in a way they have never been able to before.
Students will be able to learn and go through all of the steps of the engineering process and these materials will be used throughout our unit. Having these new materials would be so exciting and I feel they would really help to propel students love of Science!
