Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a school in which students are craving to learn outside the box. Because of this, I have introduced Team Building - Maker Space Projects to challenge students. I would like to fill their creative minds with more than just recycling materials. Our elementary school serves 293 students in grades Prekindergarten-8. The student: teacher ratio of 10:1 is lower than the Maine state level of 12:1. Eligible for Free Lunch is up to 47%. Our students crave to learn outside the box.

My Project

With high tech robots being used in the classroom, I thought it would be a good idea to introduce the backdoors of the engineering process to the lower elementary students. This will be taught by the older students, who will learn to use the product and then show the little ones how to use it and what it is all about. I have always believed that peer teaching is the best way to allow students to get to know others in the school. This small project of just one item will allow a middle school student to each a small group of early elementary students.
