Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my school come from low socioeconomic, immigrant families. Many of them do not get to experience things that we take for granted on a daily basis. Their parents want to help them succeed, but many cannot due to language or because they are working more than one job to meet their basic needs. As an educator, I try to provide and facilitate projects for my students that can expand their knowledge and understanding. Help me bring the curriculum alive and create an educational experience for all my students!

My Project

My students will be able to experience the engineering design process with the familiarity of LEGO bricks. A MakerSpace in the classroom is a way for students to work together in teams to create solutions as problems arise in their design.

LEGO WeDo 2.0 and Simple and Powered Machines Education Sets will enhance this space with a product familiar to the children and get them excited to accept the challenges that face them throughout the engineering process.

Students will rotate through the MakerSpace center and build using the LEGO Education Sets, while reflecting on redesign and planning. My students will have the opportunity to code and begin their journey in computer science with the WeDo LEGO set.
