My students come from a wide geographic area as our school district is made up of 9 small towns and the many miles of rural area between them. With such a wide geographic area, we have a wide range of student interests. Many of our students are showing an interest in working in computers as a career, but they need the chance to learn the skills they will need.
In an effort to increase problem-solving skills as well as prepare students for an ever-changing world, we are increasing the number of STEM classes students have available.
My students enjoyed taking Computer Programming last year and look forward to taking a second programming class as well as Introduction to Engineering this year. They are excited to see our STEM career and technical education program grow going into our second year.
My Project
My students are learning about engineering systems and the design process. This kit will help them explore the different options for powering their engineering projects. The Carolina STEM Emerging Energies Kit gives them the tools and supplies needed to explore several different energy options.
Wind, solar, biofuel- there are so many alternatives out there for supplying energy to technology.
My students want to engineer for our future planet, which means they need to consider all of their energy options.
My students are designing projects such as automated aquariums and plant care systems, and they need a way to power these projects. Exploring different types of energy will give them the knowledge and skills needed to decide which power source to use, so they can build a working system.
