My Students

EHS hosts an after-school Robotics program with over 30 students participating. The students are from grades 9 through 12 and form teams of 3 - 5 to design and build robots to compete against robots from across the State and potentially the World.

Vex robotics competitions recently adopted a new platform requiring investment in new controllers/batteries, motors, etc.

The cost to equip a single team is approximately $2,000. We have 5 coed teams from diverse backgrounds.

Additionally, our engineering program needs to upgrade equipment and capabilities in our fabrication laboratory. We intend to refurbish 2 3D printers, purchase a CNC router, and obtain materials for classroom projects.

My Project

The STEM department of EHS is building an environment to train students to compete in a global economy by using Vex robotics and CNC fabrication methods to turn ideas into reality.

The project funds replacement needs for aging equipment purchased at the program's inception 6 years ago.

Most of the vex motors and sensors and batteries are nearing the end of their economic life.

We will also expand capabilities in CNC routing and laser engraving. The large-format router will allow us to build parts for BEST robotics competition and the engraving materials will provide protection from moisture-laden compressed air and allow us to expand into glass and metal marking.
