Engineering Slingshot Cars

Help me give my students materials to engineer a slingshot car to understand and observe Newton's Laws of Motion

My Project

Students learn best when engaging hands-on with materials and observing scientific wonders firsthand! Third graders are currently learning about forces and motion and understanding how objects move. They have been studying Newton's Laws of Motion and their applications in our lives.

Students will use the materials to engineer their own slingshot cars!

Using simple household materials, they can understand how wheels and axles work together in vehicles and how potential energy can be stored and transferred to kinetic energy! By engineering a vehicle, they can observe firsthand how it works and put their engineering skills to work by testing and improving their vehicles.
