My Project

If I could describe my classroom in five words, they would be authentic, rigorous, supportive, engaging, and family. Students in my class have ownership of their own learning and this project will reinforce their sense of independence and responsible freedom. My class learns best while they learn "hands-on." The materials such as a mechanical engineering kit, or art materials that can represent a 3D idea in STEAM will help my students in multiple areas. I have also requested funds from Teachers Pay Teachers to have resources to record their findings and experiences. Teachers Pay Teachers have written and digital resources for my students to show their learning. I've been blessed to teach many of them for more than one year. It's helped us build a sense of family. I have a passion to teach and I share it with my kids, my class is definitely engaging. I have learned which students can learn best in my room. Many of them it is reaching them through hands-on problem-solving experiences. All the materials requested will help them with this type of learning. Creating community is essential to taking risks and deeper learning, we work in with partners and small groups daily, and the resources requested will be used in this manner. I care about kids and they know it. Taking the time to know my students well, not just as learners, but also as people has helped to create a real sense of belonging in our shared space. We greet each other every morning and most students have a unique handshake, salute, or dab. Many of my students have been together since kindergarten and truly care for each other and it's obvious when you walk through our door.
