Help me give my students a Kids First Engineering Kit, 4 OWI EM4 Robot Kits, 2 STEM Mechanics sets, a Maker Studio Gears Set, a Q-BA-MAZE set and a pipes and elbows stencil set.
My students are growing, learning and making lifelong friends in a small community within a great little school. They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, questioners and hard workers. They come into the room each morning with excitement on their faces and eager to learn new innovative things.
Our Pre-K through 12 school has an average class size of 12.
This community is comprised mainly of farmers and ranchers. Our location is very secluded. We have very few academic resources available. Traveling is required for day-to-day needs such as groceries, gas, clothing, and so on.
Students are faced with many challenges each day. The majority of the students come from poverty and/or single parent homes. Although this is a low socioeconomic community, it is very family oriented and close-knit. We feel that our students deserve the same quality education and resources needed to maximize learning as students at other schools that are not faced with the same economic challenges.
My Project
This variety of resources adds to our STEAM activities station. The four robot kits will give an opportunity for teams to design and build robots that work. Our plan is to build robots much sooner this upcoming year, after several coding activities. The two STEM Mechanics Design sets will be added to our engineering materials as well as the Amusement Park Engineering Design set. The pipe & elbow stencils will aid in designing water works solutions. Finally the Q-BA-MAZE and Studio Gears set will be an addition to our STEAM resources. These materials will encourage "out-of-the-box" thinking. We have a STEM area in our classroom where these activities will be available for daily projects and usage.
STEAM encourages problem-solving, while engineering or designing things that actually work using hands-on activities.
By donating to this project, you will be supporting boys and girls by opening the STEAM doors to all of our students. You will help make a difference because neither the school nor I have more funds to purchase these additional resources for our students. Your donation will make this happen in our classroom!
