I have the privilege of teaching a wonderful group of Fifth Grade students. These children are intelligent, talented and hard working. They deserve a superior education.
I teach in a large urban public school with over 900 students.
Our students have a rich ethnically diverse background and many can speak multiple languages. Most children receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch. Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, many of my students do not have the opportunities that others children have. I want to change this and give them every opportunity. I want them to excel in school, to attend wonderful colleges, and to be productive citizens in the future.
My Project
My mission is to encourage children to enthusiastically discover the Universe through Reading, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.
The LittleBits Steam Class Pack provides opportunities for children to engage in challenges that are connected to the Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core standards.
Using the four LittleBits components--power source, inputs, outputs and wires, children will invent a self-driving vehicle, an art machine, a throwing arm and a security device. In addition, children will solve open-ended problems to "Invent for Good, Invent a Chain Reactions and Hack Your Habits."
With a focus on real-world problem solving, technology and critical thinking, LittleBits help students develop key skills for learning and career readiness.
