My students love learning and crave new experiences. In our Title I school, the backgrounds of my students are diverse. Despite socio-economic hardship, my students are eager to rise to challenges. They especially enjoy coming to school when they are looking forward to the projects we are working on.
My culturally diverse students work together as one unit while supporting one another and being responsible for their learning.
They care about learning and collaborating to help each other as a team.
Our school in southwestern Florida is a beautiful place to learn and grow. Through grants, my class has gotten tablets and expanded our school garden. We find importance in problem-solving as a team and learning in the real world. Exploring the plants and insects in our garden and recording our journey on our tablets has created an exciting atmosphere for my little scientists. We want to have more opportunities to explore and create as a team.
My Project
After recently meeting a LEGO Maniac teacher at the FETC National Conference, I was truly inspired to teach my students how to build and code with LEGO We Do 2.0. As a teacher, I was excited when the robot that I built could follow the commands I coded on my tablet. I couldn't wait to share this new kit with my students! I was so excited to see the We Do kit on Donors Choose.
I want my students to have every opportunity to fall in love with building, coding, and testing their Lego robotic creations.
The students can follow the engineering process to learn perseverance and collaboration while integrating their love of building with LEGOs and programming on a tablet. These kid-friendly sets allow students to build, test, and revise their creations to meet a goal. They will feel what it's like to be a successful creator and share their amazing projects with their peers. I can't wait to share my love of LEGO We Do 2.0 with my students!
