I have an amazing group of students. They come from many different backgrounds. Many of them are not able to afford their own school supplies.
I love working with these students, because most of them come from home lives that are not the best.
Many of them come from low income families. They have hard lives, but that has not caused them to be bitter or to be disrespectful.
I want to help my students be successful in whatever career path they choose, and I believe that they are capable of accomplishing great things with their lives. I tell my students frequently that my expectations for them are very high, because I know they are capable of reaching and exceeding those expectations.
My Project
In my classroom, I like to do engineering with my students. My students love doing engineering and these Keva blocks would help make that more possible in my classroom.
I incorporate engineering so that my students will be able to get experience in a field that they might be interested in pursuing someday.
I encourage them to try new things and use their creativity to solve engineering problems.
Each Friday, I give my students opportunities to engage in STEM activities to help them learn to look at problems in new ways. There is a good possibility that my classroom is the only place they will have an opportunity to try these types of activities.
