Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students from the upper Dallas area are interested in learning more about the engineering process and the various aspects of engineering. They love to explore how things interact, and why things work the way they do.
They are a diverse set of students from multiple backgrounds, who work to understand each other as best they can.
When given the chance to prove themselves, they shine in ways that are often unexpected. They challenge those around them to be better and to work towards a better life.
My Project
Students are tasked with designing, building, and testing various items throughout the year in order to understand how engineering works. 3d printers would allow them to make better products that would improve their understanding of how designs function.
For example, they have to build a device that will take pictures as it floats to the ground from a certain height.
A 3d printer would allow them to better explore different designs and how they hold up under that work.
They also have to redesign a flashlight. Being able to print a 3d model of their final product would help others better understand how it would look and function.
