Engineering Challenges with Dominos!

Help me give my students hands on experience with manipulatives to design domino chains. This will assist in building coordination, patience, and creativity in each student.

My Students

As the librarian at two elementary schools, I find that all of my students aren't accustomed to having everything they want or need. When they step into my library, I try my best to ensure that I have books they would like to read, STEAM activities, and technology lessons to inspire them to learn. Every day they come in ready to learn. They are all great kids; unique in their own way.

They are eager to try new things and learn everything they can each day.

My Project

By providing students with these materials, it will allow them the opportunity to build with simple materials while taking their skills to a new level as they complete challenges. These materials will inspire creative domino building while giving students the joy of doing something inventive. It will also enhance their ability to collaborate with others by working as part of a team.

Various challenges will increase student knowledge of gravity, cause and effect, and energy of motion.

Students are in control as they set up trails to see how the dominoes will cause the effects of a bell ringing, a wheel turning and a ball falling.
