This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Last week I attended a Makey Makey Invention Teacher Course to help me continue providing awesome STEM/STEAM lessons in my 4th-grade class. In this professional development, I learned creative ways to use the Makey Makey Invention Kit and how to integrate it into any core subject so that my students can produce fantastic projects where inventing, art, engineering, and coding meet! My scholars are eager to start learning how to use these invention kits in our classroom. All the resources requested in this project will support us with this goal!

This project seeks to fuse reading/spelling with engineering/art to code using the Makey Makey circuit board; my scholars will be using the HD word kits to manipulate the color-coded tiles, letter tiles, and magnetic boards, and afterward, they will code interactive posters where they can show their learning about word patterns and reading through physical computing.

My little coders will use conductive materials, art paper, and Sharpies, along with our Chibitronics Chibi Chip Microcontrollers, to code interactive and colorful word posters.

I appreciate your support towards this request, and most importantly, providing my scholars with resources that will have a positive impact on their learning! They will certainly enjoy and demonstrate their learning through hands-on and computer science integration when reading and spelling!
