My Students

When I made the decision to move from 5th grade to kindergarten, I had no idea what an amazing ride I was in for. These sweet five-year-olds are thirsting for knowledge and beyond excited while acquiring it. I am constantly looking to find or create new lessons and activities to keep up with them.

I work at a Title I school where the entire population receives free breakfast and lunch.

Many if not most of my students have little access to educational materials outside of school, so it is that much more important that their school time is as meaningful and productive as possible. They are an amazing group, and I am constantly amazed at how much they are learning and how quickly they're learning it. With five-year-olds, however, they need constant stimulation. I have spent a great deal already building up my classroom, but they need more.

My Project

Being that kindergartners are still very dependent and coming in at several different levels, developmentally-leveled learning centers are very important. They need materials that will challenge them at their own levels yet be simple enough that they can do them in their learning groups without teacher assistance. Being that we have literacy and math centers almost every single day, center activities can become boring, non-engaging, and thus unproductive if they are not changed up on a regular basis. I have carefully selected center materials for both literacy and math that will provide the highest quality learning experience and active engagement for my students, such as sight-word puzzles, Hot dots pens and subtraction cards, a set of ten frames, a 1-100 pocket chart, and more. It warms my heart to see the excitement in their eyes when I bring out bright new hands-on materials to assist in their learning experience.

Kindergarten is the foundation for all learners, and a strong foundation will pave the way for our future successful young adults.

Your donations will help my students continue their path, learning at advanced rates with pride and excitement. It will ensure that every day is important and beneficial. Your donations will keep learning active and fun and quench my students' thirst for learning while keeping them coming back for more.
