My students are bright and energetic HANDS ON learners! They love to try new things and enjoy fast-paced work that keeps them engaged. My classes have 9 - 12th grade learners that have not taken an art class since middle school -- sometimes before.
I have many students that love art and are excited to apply their skills in my classroom.
My students sign up for my classes because they want to learn to draw from observation -- and some because they need a fine art credit to graduate!
My Project
My project involves reusable props that will be used by my art students during observational drawing lessons. I picked props that will appeal to all students, but especially to young men.
My students will learn to draw from real life; using a variety of interesting props strengthens our observational skills and drawing techniques.
My project will provide three new class sets of props that will be used over and over in Foundations of Drawing classes; one set of horses (our school mascot), one set of cars, and a class set of insects.
My classes usually have 25+ students; with about 50% boys and 50% girls. I hope to use these props to encourage all my artists, but especially the young men.
