My students are eager to learn. They walk into my classroom every day, ready to learn and full of life. They love working with each other and are very curious about the world around them.
I teach in a Title I school, and my students come from a variety of backgrounds.
Over sixty percent of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. They are ready for a 21st-century learning environment that helps them develop collaboration skills. These skills will prepare them for what the future holds. They also love participating in our weekly STEM/STEAM activities.
My Project
Guided reading is such an important part of first grade.
There is no more magical time of day in an elementary classroom than reading time.
Small groups of children, gathered around a kidney-shaped table, conferring quietly with a teacher as they work together to unravel the complicated process of reading. One important part of this process is word work and making words.
Students will use the magnetic letter trays and letters as part of their small group instruction with the teacher and to explore making words. We need hands on practice with this skill so that students use visual and tactile practice opportunities as they become emergent readers.
Students need the right materials to practice phonic, phoneme and making words during Guided Reading instruction. Thank you for considering my project!
