My students are bright, curious, creative, and eager for learning opportunities! They love hands-on and active activities, and they also have lots of drive to work hard. We are a Title I school in Everett, WA., and our classroom is an English Language Learner (ELL) shelter model classroom. This means over half of the class are ELL students.
This year (2019-2020), my students will be looping with me to 2nd grade!
All of my students have a passion and curiosity for reading that I want to continue encouraging. These second graders have big dreams and with your help, we can make them happen!
My Project
My whole class is coming from 1st to 2nd grade with me! We are very excited to loop, but this means that my incoming 2nd graders have read the majority of the books in my classroom library.
Having a diverse library of titles, levels, and topics, allows the students to be in charge of their independent reading experience when they are able to choose books that excite them at their reading level.
My students have demonstrated their passion for reading and engagement throughout the year. They request specific titles they want to read and different topics they want to learn about. The books I have selected for this project are all books that the students have expressed interest in and will appeal to the different levels and interests in the class.
