If a visitor came into our classroom they would see a busy, collaborative environment. They would see students working on projects and helping and supporting each other. They would see students taking an active role in their learning.
My students are hard-working and responsible.
I set high expectations for them and they always rise to the challenge. They set goals every semester and are determined to meet them. We are in a school that is over 100 years old and definitely is showing its age but is still full of old school character. While our building is old we are rich in technology. We have put an emphasis on having technology available to prepare students for their futures.
My Project
We do a morning math routine each day. This involves not only solving math problems but also building community. Currently, only one students can come to the board to solve a problem. With the dry erase boards each students can solve the problem and share their work. They will also use the boards in games involving spelling, vocabulary and grammar. The dry erase boards will also give them a different way of doing a formative assessment besides the regular paper and pencil activity. There are many ways to incorporate personal dry erase boards to make students engaged in their learning.
This project will enrich my students learning by allowing everyone a chance to solve and answer problems.
It will give everyone a chance to share their thinking with each other and with me.
