Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been teaching for 21 years and I love it more and more everyday. All the students come in for their first day and for some of my kiddos very first day at a school in general! Although this year will be different I still want my students to enjoy their first They all come in with such enthusiasm and anticipation for what is ahead.
Our school is housed in an older school, lacking many of the modern amenities of our suburban neighbors.
All of our students receive free lunch and most live in low-income homes with limited resources. Many of our students come in hungry, don't have the proper clothing for the weather, and lack materials to complete home assignments. The school district has been hit with extensive budgetary cutbacks. Due to the economic hardships and the high level of poverty in our community, I try to keep all students held to the same expectations.
My Project
I teach the youngest learners. They are so excited to come to school, hug their teacher, and delve into learning. This year however, we are in uncharted territory. This document camera will help me reach our youngest of learners with exciting literature, visuals and lessons. The whiteboards will be sent home with students so they can practice the necessary skills to continue their schooling journey.
These materials are so important for learning to be meaningful for these young students this school year.
