This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I want to provide my students with meaningful and engaging learning opportunities.
The students in my class strive for excellence.
They all inherently care about one another and continually try to improve in all aspects.
Students learn best from each other. Student dialogue is one way of promoting thinking and cooperative learning among students. Student discourse in an academic environment is vital to language acquisition, student engagement and ultimately student achievement.
My Project
I can use the iPad Pro camera and project through the Apple TV on the screen in the front of the classroom showing how students have solved problems using paper and pencil as well as how they use math manipulatives to solve math problems. Many of my students are visual learners, and using the iPad Pro camera is a way that I can connect to my students' learning style.
Students will be able to share their work and engage in productive mathematical conversations on how the problems were solved.
These discussions can help students learn from one another and promote high levels of mathematical proficiency. Students will have many opportunities to explain and justify their thinking and deepen their understanding of the mathematical process.
