We are a Title One school that provides a lot of support to families who may need extra assistance to make sure their child is clothed and fed. Many of my students receive free or reduced price breakfast and lunch. Our school provides a fruit or veggie snack each afternoon for all students. Despite the challenges my students may face, I want to give them meaningful school experiences so they can grow and learn.
My students are smart, funny, creative and kind.
Each day they come into the classroom excited to learn. They enjoy reading and using technology to learn new things. I strive to give my students as many hands-on opportunities as possible to keep their bodies moving and their minds learning.
My Project
Students are expected to leave second grade knowing all of their addition and subtraction facts quickly and efficiently. Some of my students are still struggling to learn these facts and use them to solve more complex math problems. Most of the resources I currently have for my students to use are paper math games that they lose interest in quickly.
The materials I am requesting will help engage students in developing strategies to help them solve math facts.
The Tang Math Kits and math games will allow students to practice their facts in a fun and appealing way with their peers. The math books will allow me to teach students in small groups using a multidisciplinary approach, which will strengthen both their math and literacy skills. I know my students' achievement will soar with the use of these exciting materials.
