Help me give my students digital and hands-on resources to meet their social emotional learning. This includes an iPad, a monitor, liquid floor tiles, and other items.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am the counselor at a Title I neighborhood school. My students are full of energy and excited to learn daily. I love all the questions that they ask. The majority of my students have limited access to technology and other educational resources outside of school. Although my students have challenges, they are always happy and willing to learn. They are my motivation.
My students are very creative and think outside the box.
They enjoy engaging hands-on activities. They absolutely love working with interactive learning games. My students also enjoy activities that involve movement and singing. Movement and hands-on activities help my students to stay focused during whole group and small group lessons.
My Project
The school year has been challenging for students and educators. Students need social emotional learning (SEL) to help with self-awareness, managing emotions, and responsible decision making. These resources will be used help close the achievement gap and meet students SEL needs.
My students need engaging SEL activities that are multisensory, flexible, and provide academic support.
The iPad and Apple Pencil will allow students access to SEL apps and lessons during small group and individual counseling sessions.
The monitor will be used to display presentation during whole group counseling lessons. The SEL story telling kits, matching activities, and grab & write prompts will be used to supplement PreK-fifth grade SEL lessons. The touch and read activities will help students build foundational phonics skills and provide tactile multisensory approach to learning. The sensory beads, ball, and color tiles will be used as classroom calming corner materials.
