Students in my classroom come from many different backgrounds and circumstances. This means that students have different needs and learn in different ways. I want to meet their needs with activities that inspire them in a hands-on way.
As I am planning lessons to inspire students, I try to find ways to make the lessons fun.
This means that I strive to make the lessons concrete with a hands-on activity. There are so many great hands-on activities to help students practice math and reading.
In third grade, students are making big transitions in reading. In third grade students are expected to move from reading for fun to reading to learn. Some students needs are great, but the need for motivating and engaging reading material is vital. The materials I have requested offers highly motivating articles that deal with real issues that kids face. The articles are geared toward subjects that kids are interested to read. The motivation to read goes a long way to help students achieve the curriculum standards. The magazines also help students to write about engaging topics, and hav opinions about what they read.
